Yuuki Tamura 

Based in Shippo, Ama City, Aichi Prefecture. Yuuki is the fifth generation of Tamura Shippo, creating jewellery, accessories, and artwork using cloisonné techniques.

Shippo-yaki is a beautiful form of jewellery and decoration whose techniques were passed down as early as the end of the Kofun period. It is an art and craft in which patterns are created using a glassy glaze on a base of copper or silver and then fired at high temperatures.

Tamura Shippo has been in business for generations since 1883.

    This product was created in collaboration with the group exhibition "Genji: Tale of Genji Picture Scroll" held at the Tokugawa Art Museum. It is inspired by Fujitsubo no Miya.

Yuuki Tamura 

Biography

Born in Shippo-cho, Ama City, Aichi Prefecture in 1986. The fifth generation of Tamura Shippo Crafts.

Entered Musashino Art University and moved to Tokyo. Upon entering university, she joined an entertainment agency and continued to perform in 200 live shows per year for nearly 10 years. (She is currently a freelancer, performing in about 3 live shows per year.)

While studying architecture at the Faculty of Art and Design, she was also involved in a wide range of activities, including cloisonné production and CD releases. After graduating, she continued to produce cloisonné while also gaining experience in other industries to broaden her knowledge and experience, including web design, hotel management company administration, stage production, and event production.

In 2012, she began studying under Takeya Tamura, the fourth generation master of Tamura Shippo Crafts. In 2015, she launched her own cloisonné jewelry brand, won an award at a public exhibition, created cloisonné hair accessories and costumes for artists, and held her solo exhibition "Cutting-Edge" in 2020. She continues to take on challenges, from presenting her works to collaborations and giving lectures, and is committed to being a pioneer.

Shippo is described as "like a jewel." I would be happy if my work could convey the changing of the seasons and the colorful emotions of each moment.

History

2007:

Her study piece "Goldfish Shippo Vase" created while she was a student was well received.

2008:

"COTTON Cloisonné Vase" selected for the Japan Enamel Artists Association Exhibition

She began her musical career while still a student, releasing various CDs and getting into the Oricon charts.

Graduated from Musashino Art University, Faculty of Art and Design, Department of Architecture.

2012:

Studied under Tamura Takeya, the fourth generation master of Tamura Shippo Crafts

2015:

"Fried Shrimp Shippo Hair Clip" won the JAPAN POPCLUTURE AWARD

2016:

Launched the cloisonné jewelry brand "SHIPPO JEWELRY -TAMURAWHITE-"

2017:

"Phoenix Cloisonné Vase" selected for the Japan Enamel Artists Association Exhibition

Crowdfunding reached 163% of goal, producing a video to promote cloisonné ware

2018:

Received the Ama City Board of Education Superintendent's Award in Aichi Prefecture for "Leaf Vein Design Cloisonné Modified Frame" at the Cloisonné New Works Exhibition

2019:

Received the "Best Business Woman Award" at the BeautyJapan Contest Tokyo Tournament

Awarded "Grand Champion" at the BeautyJapan Contest Japan Tournament

Her work was selected for the MUFG Craft Project "For a Sustainable Future - Craft Tradition and Innovation" exhibition, and her winning work was exhibited at Art Collaboration Kyoto (ACK), traveling to Kyoto, Tokyo, Nagoya, and New York.

Exhibited at the Shippo Town Shippo Yaki New Works Exhibition, and "Filled Shippo Natsume" won the Chairman of the Assembly Award.

Created the poster visual for the Disney & Pixar movie "My Elements"
